Organized by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), “Defense Industry Artificial Intelligence Talent Cluster (SAYZEK) Promotion Ceremony and Workshop”,Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN's It was held in Ankara with the honors and participation of the Ministry of National Defense, Turkish Armed Forces, defense industry companies, research institutes and university representatives.
SSB President GÖRGÜNIn his speech at the Introduction Ceremony, he said: "We see artificial intelligence as a value that shapes the future, transforms the present, transforms information into power and data into vision. The Defense Industry Artificial Intelligence Talent Cluster, which we established in order to carry the artificial intelligence-based studies needed in our defense industry to further levels by managing and directing them in a central and integrated structure, will produce effective and efficient solutions with innovative studies in line with the needs of the sector by increasing the interaction and awareness between stakeholders within the ecosystem. It will be formed." "The synergy will rapidly increase the use of artificial intelligence technology in our defense industry products and raise our sector to the position of being an exemplary country in groundbreaking technologies that will prepare it for the future."
At the presentation ceremony, Director of ITU Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Application and Research Center, Mr. Assoc. Dr. A presentation was made by Nazım Kemal ÜRE, explaining the application areas of artificial intelligence technologies in the defense industry sector. Then, Büşra BAYRAKTAR, Information Technologies Manager of the R&D and Technology Management Department of the Presidency of Defense Industries, made a presentation about the R&D activities in the field of artificial intelligence carried out within the SSB. Afterwards, Defense Industry Expert from the Department of Cyber Security and Information Systems Furkan ÖZ conveyed the details of the cluster with a presentation explaining the goals of the cluster and the potential of the synergy environment expected to create in the field of defense industry.
After the introduction ceremony ended, the second part of the event, SAYZEK Vision & Mission Workshop, started. In the first session of the workshop, ideas for determining the vision of the cluster were shared in a round table by groups consisting of need authority and public representatives, company officials and academicians. In the second session of the workshop, suggestions for SAYZEK's mission and road map were shared. Following the sessions, the program ended with the closing speech of SSB Cyber Security and Information Systems Department Head Ahmet Bahadır BÜLBÜL.
Within the scope of SAYZEK studies; It is aimed to create a talent matrix, carry out collaborations for focus areas, bring the studies in the civil field to the defense industry, accelerate the productization process, use resources efficiently with common infrastructures and focus laboratories, create artificial intelligence awareness through awareness trainings and bring talented students to the sector.
