CYBER CLUSTER BROUGHT ITS MEMBERS WITH THE PUBLIC - Turkish Cyber Security Cluster

Türkiye Cyber Security Cluster brought together its member companies and public institutions and organizations at the PUBLIC-COMPANY MEETINGS (B2G) event.

At the event organized at SSB Nuri Demirağ Hall on June 20, 2022, Siber Cluster brought together its member companies and public institutions with the aim of disseminating domestic and national products in the public sector.

The event, T.R. Vice President of the Presidency of Defense Industries Mustafa Murat Şeker and T.R. It started with the opening speeches of Yavuz Emir Beyribey, Deputy Head of the Presidential Digital Transformation Office.

In his opening speech, SSB Vice President Mustafa Murat Şeker stated that they observed that the products in our country's domestic cyber security ecosystem have reached maturity levels that can compete with their foreign counterparts and can achieve sales success in foreign markets.

In his speech, Şeker talked about the work carried out to further improve product maturity and increase our technological competencies and security capacity. Vice President, TR-TEST A.Ş. to increase trust in domestic cyber security products. Referring to the testing and certification project carried out with the company, he stated that 19 certificates were given in a total of 11 product groups. Şeker added that in this way, the products produced by the companies have proven their maturity by passing through the testing and certification processes, and he can make inferences about what improvements should be made in which areas. "With this, we aim to increase the use of our products in the public and private sectors. Moreover, with this project, it becomes evident that domestic products can be successful and compete with foreign counterparts." he said.

Şeker emphasized that they will implement the Turkey National Cyber Demonstration Center (TUSGM) project, which will be located in our Cluster office, and underlined that with this project, they will create an end-to-end PoC environment for domestic and national products through sample scenarios, and public institutions that want to see how the products work will be able to observe live. He added that they aim to accelerate the purchasing process by holding PoC demonstrations in this center.

SSB Vice President Mustafa Murat Şeker continued his words as follows: "Although we observe an increase in the usage rates of our domestic cyber security products compared to the past, we believe that we can do more than this increase. At this stage, as the Presidency of Defense Industries, we are taking the necessary steps for the technical development/maturation of the products on the purchasing side as well as on the purchasing side."

Stating that they know that we must do our part as public institutions in order to ensure our security with domestic resources and contribute to the development of the ecosystem, the Vice President stated that they evaluate that they can safely receive quality services by giving direction to companies and providing feedback if they act beyond acting with the logic of just purchasing. "By acting together, we can achieve a similar success in the field of cyber security as we have achieved in the defense industry with our projects and studies. At this stage, we, as public institutions, have critical responsibilities in supporting companies in this field." he said.

Şeker also requested all public representatives to provide more opportunities by inviting the member companies they listened to at this event to their institutions.

DDO Deputy Chairman Yavuz Emir Beyribey stated that developing and improving the ecosystem in the field of cyber security, which is an integral part of digital transformation in line with the Digital Turkey target, is one of the most important duties of the Digital Transformation Office and noted that they are carrying out the necessary coordination studies to build cyber security capacity.

Beyribey continued his speech by saying, "We are no longer asking how to combat cyber threats. We have already resolved these issues. We are pursuing questions such as how to become a cyber power in the international arena and how to be more deterrent."

Addressing the representatives of public institutions, Beyribey underlined that the products that are known to be mature should already be purchased and used, and stated that they expect a long-term strategic partnership to be established at this event. DDO Vice President emphasized that their goals are global and national, and noted that they established the Digital Technologies Business Council under the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), and in this way, companies will be more effective in the global market. Beyribey addressed the companies as follows: "We want you to compete with foreigners, not with each other." Stating that they do not want to be stuck in the domestic market, Yavuz Emir Beyribey added that their export target for 2025 is 221 billion dollars. Stating that they are working hard to open the sector to the foreign market, incentive methods, foreign sales, bringing investors and member companies together, and loan needs, Beyribey stated that they are in contact with many countries about organizing business forums.

Touching on the work they initiated with twelve public institutions to disseminate domestic cyber security products in the public sector, the Vice President underlined that they updated their targets globally and continue their work with the same determination. He added that with the budget arrangements to be made, they will create a structure in the public sector where those who prefer domestic products can receive a higher budget and those who prefer foreign products can receive a lower budget. The Vice President informed that, as the Digital Transformation Office, they will soon organize a workshop to create the cyber security governance framework at the national level. Not the audience of the play; Stating that we should be the founders of the game, DDO Vice President said, "Let's build the game together" and concluded his words by expressing his full belief that Turkish unicorn companies will emerge in the near future.

Following the speeches, 29 invited public institutions and 49 member companies came together and more than 500 meetings were held in total. In their 15-minute meetings, the companies gave detailed information about their companies and products to the public institutions and organizations they met with.
